Visakhapatnam often called as The city of destiny has been recently ranked 3rd in the Swachh Survekshan survey. It might be the effort of the public who tried not to throw trash on the roads or it might even be the efforts of the government officials who strived very hard to make proper use of funds.
Whatever might it be Vizag was ranked 3rd among all the cities in india. The district collector along with the GVMC Commissioner goes onto the stage and collects the reward for making the city clean. But are we missing something here? Is there anything or anyone else whom we should be congratulating on the achievement. Let us start the story from the beach road of Visakhapatnam.
And Yus! Now yeah!
When the skies turn darker in the night and the entire crowd reaches home by then,
When the clock strikes 10, The streets are filled up with the sounds of the waves,
When the hot garam chai starts brewing at YMCA, here they come,
The Unsung heros of swachh visakha, wearing an orange jacket with a broom in one hand and their hopes in the other, who strives hard to keep every nook & corner of the city clean, the sanitation workers of the GVMC.
These were the real hands behind Swachh visakha who works from 10pm – 5am to keep the roads clean, leaving their family back at home and striving for the city’s development.
After the devastation of Hudhud, the campaigns about cleanliness has taken new forms in the city, People started to look for dustbins instead of dumping garbage on the roads. Local shopkeepers arranged bins outside their outlets.
With all these efforts vizag has moved up from 5th position in 2015 to 3rd position in 2017, Thanks to all the workers of GVMC who made sure that the city was clean enough.
All it takes to boost them up is a small word of appreciation, It actually feels great for them when the general public thanks them for keeping the city clean.
If you come across any sanitation worker please thank them for their work 🙂
